What comes to your mind when your doctor says, “you need to get biopsy done.” Storm of thoughts and fear? Actually it is as simple as drawing blood for routine lab report.

Biopsy means examination of tissue obtained from a living body

Diagnosis of any lesion, ulcer or disease is a step by step procedure. After initial examination, when it is difficult to reach final conclusion, doctor advise to get biopsy done so that we can get an exact idea what is happening inside.

When the lesion is small (< 1.0 cm), entire lesion is removed and submitted for examination, this is called excisional biopsy.

When it is difficult to arrive on the final diagnosis after initial examination and if the lesion is larger than 1.0 cm, only a small piece of tissue is obtained and submitted for the examination. This is called incisional biopsy.

We at Sangee Oral Pathology Center, perform all biopsy procedures under local anaesthesia. With state of the art facility and experienced doctor, biopsy procedure is as smooth as any other non-invasive procedure.

As we use various punch biopsy instruments for oral lesions, the entire procedure becomes as simple as obtaining blood sample for routine laboratory investigations.
